yacht video distribution and onboard cinema in Dubai

Any source on any screen, from the sundeck to the lower deck.

Satellite, IPTV and streaming reach every cabin, the saloon becomes a cinema at one press, and the sundeck has a screen you can read at noon. All of it runs over the vessel's network, so adding a screen means adding a network point, not new coax through finished panels.

We design and install this for owners' representatives, captains and refit yards in Dubai Harbour, Dubai Marina, Port Rashid and Abu Dhabi. Encoders, decoders, sources and amplifiers live in the climate-controlled technical space; outside, we fit only displays their manufacturer rates for the weather.

Who this is for

Video on board is a network problem first and a screen problem second, so it belongs with the people who run the vessel's network.

  • Owners' representatives who want the same programme in every cabin without a box under every television.
  • Captains and ETOs who want one rack, one network and one place to look when a screen goes dark.
  • Charter operations where guests expect the saloon to be a cinema by night and a lounge by day.
  • Refit yards replacing matrix switchers and coax with video over the network and fibre between decks.

What MK Iconic does

How we deliver it

Audit the sources and the network

We list the sources: satellite and IPTV receivers from the vessel's comms contractor, streaming devices, media servers and the cameras. We check the network with your ETO, because video over IP is only as good as the switches and the fibre between decks.

Design the distribution

Crestron DM NVX encoders put every source on the network once, and a decoder behind each screen pulls whatever that cabin wants, with 4K over fibre between decks. Encoders, decoders and sources stay in the conditioned technical space.

Commission and support

Every screen is tested from every source and the crew are trained. The system then goes into Iconic Care™: remote monitoring, status in the client portal, and a fault reported by WhatsApp, email or phone is logged as a ticket.

The systems we specify

Bright living room with a wall-mounted television, slim wall speakers and a wall touch screen

Crestron

Crestron DM NVX AV-over-IP

DM NVX carries 4K60 video, audio and control over standard 1 Gb Ethernet, so the satellite, IPTV and streaming sources in the rack reach the saloon, every cabin and the deck screens from one network.

Encoders and decoders live in the technical space and behind the screens, in conditioned areas, with fibre between decks. MK Iconic is a Crestron dealer in Dubai, and Crestron has a dedicated marine programme.

Best for: Any vessel with more than a handful of screens, and every refit pulling out coax

The saloon cinema

A projector with a drop-down screen or a large display, depending on how the owner uses the saloon by day. Cinema speakers come from M&K Sound or Wisdom Audio, built into the joinery or behind fabric, with amplification in the technical space.

The cinema scene is one button on the keypad or remote: lights low, blackout blinds down, display on, source playing. The same button brings the lounge back.

Best for: Main saloons and dedicated cinema rooms on larger vessels

Blinds and shading on board

SunBrite

SunBrite outdoor displays

For the sundeck and flybridge we specify SunBrite outdoor televisions, which Snap One rates IP55 in full-sun, partial-sun and full-shade versions, so the screen stays readable through a Dubai afternoon. SunBrite is a Snap One sister brand sold through Control4 dealers, not a Control4 product, and we say so plainly.

They are controlled from the same system as everything else and fed by a decoder in a conditioned space. We place them under the hardtop or a shade where we can, and check the manufacturer's operating range against the deck before fixing a position.

Best for: Sundecks, flybridges and covered aft decks

Questions

Yacht video and cinema: questions we get asked

Can every cabin watch a different channel?

Yes. Each satellite or IPTV receiver is encoded onto the network once, and the decoder behind each cabin screen selects any of them. How many channels play at once is set by the number of receivers your comms contractor provides, not by the distribution.

Do you supply the satellite and IPTV?

No. The antenna, receivers and IPTV service come from the vessel's comms contractor, who handles the subscriptions and connectivity. We take their outputs in the rack, distribute them to every screen on board, and coordinate rack space and the network with them.

Will a normal television survive on the sundeck?

Not for long in Dubai. We fit SunBrite outdoor televisions, which Snap One rates IP55 and builds for full sun, partial sun or shade. Even then we check the operating range against the deck's exposure and keep the screen under the hardtop where we can.
