structured cabling and Wi-Fi for offices in Dubai

Everything else in the building depends on this layer.

Every display, camera, touch panel, access point and Teams Room on your floor runs on the cabling and the network beneath it. Get that layer right and the rest stays reliable for a decade. Get it wrong and every system above it inherits the fault.

We design and install the wired and wireless layer for offices, hotels and commercial buildings across Dubai: Cat6A to the desk and the device, fibre between floors, enterprise Wi-Fi from a proper survey, VLANs that keep AV, guest and corporate traffic apart, and a rack that is powered, cooled and documented.

Who this is for

  • Office fit-outs in DIFC, Business Bay, JLT and Dubai Marina that want cabling, Wi-Fi and AV from one contractor
  • Facilities managers taking over a floor with undocumented cabling and a rack nobody wants to open
  • Meeting rooms and Teams Rooms that need PoE for panels, cameras and touch screens
  • Hotels, clinics and retail that need guest Wi-Fi kept apart from operations
  • Developers specifying the riser, the comms rooms and the floor distribution for a whole building
  • Any building where the AV system has been blamed for a network problem

What MK Iconic does

How we deliver it

Design and survey

We walk the floor with the fit-out drawings and a Wi-Fi survey kit. The survey finds where the glass partitions, the concrete cores and the dense desk areas will fight the signal, and sets the access point count and positions from measurement rather than guesswork. The cabling schedule, containment route and rack layout come out of the same visit.

Structured cabling

Cat6A to every outlet, device and ceiling point, run on tray and basket, dressed and labelled at both ends, and tested with the results in the handover pack. Fibre links the comms rooms between floors and the riser to the building entry. We certify every link, so a port that fails later is a port we can trace.

Network, Wi-Fi and VLANs

Enterprise access points, PoE switching and a core sized for the floor. Separate VLANs for corporate, guest, AV and building control, so a visitor on the Wi-Fi cannot see the boardroom's displays and a firmware update on a camera cannot stall a video call. PoE powers the touch panels, scheduling panels, cameras and access points from the rack, so there is no plug-top transformer behind anything.

Rack, power, cooling and handover

A Dubai riser runs hot. The rack gets a UPS sized for a clean shutdown, ventilation or dedicated cooling, cable management and a labelled patch field. You get as-built drawings, the test results, the patch schedule and the device list in your client portal, and under Iconic Care™ we monitor the network's health remotely and log any fault you report by WhatsApp, email or phone as a ticket.

Questions

Structured cabling and Wi-Fi: questions we get asked

Why Cat6A rather than Cat6?

Cat6A carries 10 gigabit over a full 100 metre run and handles the heat and power of PoE better, which matters when a cable bundle runs through a Dubai ceiling void. The difference is in the cable, not the labour, and the labour is the part you never want to repeat. For a fit-out you expect to keep for ten years it is the only sensible choice.

Do we need a Wi-Fi survey?

Yes, if you want the Wi-Fi to work in every room rather than most of them. Glass partitions, stone finishes and lift cores do strange things to a signal, and desk density changes the answer again. A survey before first fix puts the access points where they are needed and gives you a heat map to prove it.

Why separate AV, guest and corporate traffic?

Because they have different needs and different risks. Video over the network wants a stable, isolated lane; guests should never touch internal systems; corporate traffic is governed by your IT policy. VLANs give each its own lane on the same cabling, and we agree the design with your IT team or managed service provider before anything is configured.

What happens to the rack in a hot riser?

Heat shortens the life of every device in it. We ventilate or cool the rack, keep the UPS on its own shelf, leave space between the units that run hot and monitor temperature along with the network. If the building loses power, the UPS carries the core long enough to shut down cleanly.
