yacht lighting control systems in Dubai

Light that follows the sun, the guests and the hour, on every deck.

Lighting on a yacht does more work than in any villa: candlelight at dinner on the aft deck, clean white for the crew's turnaround, blackout in the owner's cabin and safe way-finding at night. We design, install and commission lighting control on board for vessels in Dubai Harbour, Dubai Marina, Port Rashid and Abu Dhabi.

Our rule is plain: processors, dimming panels, keypads and touch screens are indoor products and live in the climate-controlled interior. On deck we specify only fittings the manufacturer rates for weather; underwater and exterior luminaires come from marine lighting specialists. We control them; we do not make them.

Who this is for

  • Owners' representatives who want one lighting control standard across a new build or refit
  • Captains whose lighting runs on three systems that do not talk to each other
  • Refit yards in the UAE that need a lighting control subcontractor alongside the electrical contractor and marine lighting supplier
  • Interior designers specifying Ketra or tunable white who need the control to deliver the colour they drew

What MK Iconic does

How we deliver it

Circuit schedule and control design

We turn the yard's drawings and the designer's intent into a circuit schedule: which fittings dim, which are DALI or tunable white, and how they group into zones and scenes. It drives the panel design and every keypad layout.

Dimming done properly

LED fittings on a yacht come from many suppliers and do not all dim alike. We match each load to DALI, 0-10 V, phase or native Ketra, set the curves so a scene fades evenly, and test for flicker at the low levels cabins use at night.

Scenes for the day and the voyage

Circadian scenes move colour temperature from a cool morning to a warm evening without anyone touching a keypad. Dinner, cinema, underway and night-watch scenes are built with the captain, and deck and underwater lighting dim from the same keypads.

Keypads and handover

Engraved keypads in every cabin and at each deck entry, in metal where the designer asks: Lutron Palladiom or Alisse, Crestron Horizon, Control4, or a KNX manufacturer's range. Iconic Care™ then adds remote monitoring and a client portal with service reports and status; a fault reported by WhatsApp, email or phone is logged as a ticket.

Lutron

Lutron HomeWorks and Ketra

Lutron HomeWorks is the system Lutron itself shows on superyachts in its published case studies, and the one we specify when lighting, shading and climate should share one keypad. MK Iconic is Lutron approved and certified on HomeWorks, RadioRA 3, Lutron Shading and Palladiom Shading, with twelve years working with Lutron.

Processors, dimming modules and Palladiom or Alisse keypads are indoor-rated and sit in the climate-controlled interior. Ketra fittings add true tunable white and colour under native Lutron control.

Best for: Saloon, owner's deck and guest cabins

KNX

KNX on board

KNX is an open standard, not a manufacturer: devices from hundreds of makers share one bus and any KNX Partner can maintain it for decades. JUNG, ekinex and ABB publish yacht ranges, and the KNX project database shows it running lighting, blinds, climate and steward call on board.

MK Iconic is a KNX Partner. Actuators and DALI gateways go in the technical space, the manufacturer's keypads in the cabins and saloon, and where the yard already runs KNX for climate we join the same bus.

Best for: Vessels that want an open standard, or where the yard's design is already KNX

Control4

Control4 Vibrant for deck accents

On Control4 vessels lighting runs on the same Core controller as audio, video and shades, and MK Iconic is a Control4 Diamond Dealer. For step, cove and deck-edge accents, Control4's Vibrant outdoor linear light is rated IP67 and described by Control4 as UV, flame and saltwater resistant, with a 45 °C ambient ceiling, so it goes under cappings and overhangs rather than open surfaces that bake in a Dubai summer. The dimmers stay inside; main deck and underwater luminaires come from the marine lighting specialist, and we control them.

Best for: Control4 vessels, and accent lighting on sheltered deck edges and steps

Questions

Yacht lighting control: questions we get asked

Is Lutron, KNX or Control4 lighting control marine-rated?

No, and none of the three claims to be. Their processors, keypads and touch screens are indoor products rated for 0 to 40 °C, so they live in the climate-controlled interior, where Lutron's superyacht case studies and the KNX project database show them working for years.

Can you control the underwater and deck lighting from the same keypads?

Yes. Those luminaires come from marine lighting specialists who rate them for immersion and salt. We take their control interface, DALI, DMX or relay, into the lighting system so one scene dims the saloon and brings the underwater lights up at anchor.

What does circadian or tunable white lighting add on a yacht?

Guests from other time zones and crew on watch both benefit from light that moves from cool in the morning to warm in the evening. With Ketra on Lutron or DALI tunable white on KNX, the colour temperature is set per scene and hour, and the owner can override it at the bedside.
