navigation data integration for yachts in Dubai

The bridge knows where you are. Now the saloon does too.

Owners and guests like to know where the vessel is, how fast she is going and what the weather is doing, without walking to the bridge. We bring that data to the saloon and cabin screens through the control system: position, speed, heading, weather, tanks and batteries on the same Crestron or Control4 touch screens that run the lighting and music, for vessels berthed in Dubai Harbour, Dubai Marina, Port Rashid and Abu Dhabi.

One thing first, in plain words. MK Iconic integrates with and displays the vessel's existing systems. We do not supply, install or certify navigation equipment, and nothing we fit becomes part of the bridge's certified navigation network. The data flows one way, from the vessel's systems to the screens, and the crew keeps the bridge.

Who this is for

  • Owners' representatives who want position, speed and weather as a page on the owner's cabin and saloon screens
  • Captains happy to share vessel data with guests, who will not let a guest system anywhere near the navigation network
  • Yacht managers who want tank, battery and shore-power state visible in the crew mess, not only in the engine control room
  • Electronics contractors and refit yards who need a control integrator to take a read-only feed and present it well

What MK Iconic does

How we deliver it

Agree the data and the boundary

We sit down with the captain and the vessel's electronics contractor and agree which data leaves the bridge and how: usually position, speed, heading, depth, wind and weather, tanks, battery and shore power. The gateway and the boundary that protects the navigation network are written down before any cable is run.

Read-only, one-way where possible

The feed into the control system is read-only, and one-way where the gateway allows it, on a separate network segment with no route back to the bridge. The processor, switches and touch screens are indoor devices in the climate-controlled interior. Nothing on our side can command a navigation device.

Pages the owner will actually use

A vessel-data page on the Crestron or Control4 touch screens shows the figures in the vessel's own style, in English and Arabic if the owner wants both. Energy data from a Victron GX system, for example, reaches Control4 screens through a third-party driver. The chart can be repeated to the owner's cabin as a video source, as a picture only.

Commission with the electronics contractor

We test every value against the bridge, confirm what happens when the feed drops, and document the integration so the electronics contractor and the next yard can see what connects to what. Iconic Care™ then monitors the control system remotely, with a client portal for service reports and status; a fault reported by WhatsApp, email or phone is logged as a ticket.

Vessel data display

Position, speed, weather and ship's systems on the control screens

The display surface is the vessel's existing Crestron or Control4 touch screens in the cabins, saloon and crew mess, all indoor devices in the climate-controlled interior. The data comes from the vessel's own gateways, provided by the electronics contractor, on a read-only feed.

Typical pages are position and speed with the weather, a tanks and power page for the crew with battery state from a Victron GX system via a third-party Control4 driver, and the chart repeated as a video source to the owner's cabin. Alerts the crew choose to share, such as a low tank, can appear on the crew screens; navigation alarms stay on the bridge.

Best for: Owner's cabin, saloon and crew mess screens on Crestron or Control4 vessels

Questions

Navigation and vessel data: questions we get asked

Do you supply or certify navigation equipment?

No. MK Iconic integrates with and displays the vessel's existing systems; we do not supply, install or certify navigation equipment, and we are not a marine electronics contractor. Chartplotters, radar, AIS and sensors remain with the electronics contractor and the bridge. What we build is the presentation of their data on the control screens, as information, never as an aid to navigation.

How do you keep the guest system away from the navigation network?

The feed is read-only and one-way where the gateway allows it, on a separate network segment with no route back to the bridge, so the control system cannot command any navigation device. We agree the boundary with the captain and the electronics contractor before work starts and document it at handover.

Can the data pages be in Arabic as well as English?

Yes. We build the pages on the Crestron and Control4 touch screens, so labels, units and layout follow the owner's preference, including Arabic and English side by side. Units follow the bridge, in knots and nautical miles, unless the owner asks otherwise.
