The same music from the sundeck to the owner's cabin, and not a speaker in sight.
A yacht is a hard place for audio. Salt air, UV and Gulf summer heat sit a few metres from a saloon finished in veneer and leather, and the owner expects the music to follow from the sundeck to the cabins without a grille showing. We design, install and commission multi-zone audio on board for vessels berthed in Dubai Harbour, Dubai Marina, Port Rashid and Abu Dhabi.
The split is simple. Amplifiers, streamers and the control processor live in the climate-controlled technical space, and only speakers the manufacturer rates for weather go outside.
What MK Iconic does
We walk the vessel with you, from the crew mess to the flybridge, and agree which spaces share a source and where volume must be independent. The result is a schedule of speakers, amplifier channels and sources the yard can build to.
Distribution runs from the climate-controlled technical rack: Crestron DM NAX audio over IP, or Control4 with Triad amplifiers, depending on the control platform on board. Both are indoor rack equipment and stay inside.
Exterior zones take Sonance Mariner MX or VX Extreme, which Sonance rates for weather. Saloons, cabins and the cinema take Wisdom Audio, Sonance Invisible Series or M&K Sound, all indoor products in conditioned space. An indoor speaker never goes outside to save a line on the schedule.
We tune each zone, set limits for the sundeck so a late evening does not disturb the next berth, and build the crew's pages so one touch sets music for guests or silence across the vessel.
Sonance
Sonance runs a dedicated marine segment and is our first choice on the exterior. The Mariner MX Series surface-mount speakers are rated IP66 and tested to MIL-STD-810 for humidity, salt spray, temperature and UV, per Sonance, so they go on the sundeck, flybridge and aft deck.
VX Extreme in-ceiling speakers, rated IP66 by Sonance, cover wet areas and exposed overheads. Inside, the Invisible Series sits behind plaster, fabric or veneer, so the saloon and cabins have full sound and no grille at all.

Wisdom Audio
Wisdom Audio planar magnetic speakers give a main saloon or cinema the scale of a large room from a cavity a few centimetres deep, which matters where every millimetre behind the panelling is spoken for. We specify the Sage Series in-wall and in-ceiling models for the saloon, dining and cinema.
For exterior decks Wisdom Audio makes an all-weather version of the same line source, with metal grilles and a moisture barrier, specified by the manufacturer for outdoor use.

M&K Sound
M&K Sound is a cinema speaker brand we work with on dedicated cinema rooms, on board as on land. Its monitors and subwoofers are indoor products for the cinema and saloon, in conditioned space.
A cinema room on a yacht is small, often an awkward shape, and shares bulkheads with cabins. We handle acoustic treatment, calibration and isolation so the film stays out of the guest cabin next door.
