The brief
A family with a six-bedroom villa in Tilal Al Ghaf wanted the whole house on one system: lighting, air conditioning, blinds and curtains, music, cameras and the doors, all from one app and one set of keypads, with none of the mess of five separate apps that most Dubai villas end up with. They also wanted to stop carrying keys, to know who is at the door before they open it, and Wi-Fi that works in every bedroom and out by the pool. The house is finished and occupied, so the work is being done without chasing walls or disrupting the family.
Why Control4
Control4 is the right answer when a family wants everything under one roof and the property is already built. Its wireless lighting range fits into existing back boxes, it integrates natively with the VRF air conditioning systems common in Dubai villas, it drives shading and audio directly, and it gives the family one interface on the wall, on the phone and on the remote. As a Control4 Diamond Dealer we design and program these systems in-house.
What we are delivering
Control4 whole-home automation: every lighting circuit on Control4 dimmers and keypads, with scenes for arriving home, evening, dinner, cinema and away; room-by-room air conditioning with two-way status; the motorised blinds and curtains on the same scenes; and music in the main living spaces from the same app.
Yale door access: Yale smart locks on the external doors, integrated with Control4, so the family and household staff use codes or their phones instead of keys, every entry is logged, and the doors lock themselves when the house goes to Away.
AI CCTV: cameras with on-board analytics that tell a person from a car or a passing cat, so the family gets an alert that matters rather than one every time a palm frond moves. Recording stays local, and live views sit inside the Control4 app and their client portal.
Wi-Fi and networking: a managed network with a proper rack, a UPS, access points placed for six bedrooms and the garden rather than one router by the front door, and separate networks for the family, guests, cameras and smart devices. A smart home is only as good as the network under it.
Where it stands
The project is in delivery, fitted around the family's routine in a finished, occupied house. Each area is documented in their client portal as it goes live, and from handover the house can be monitored under Iconic Care™, so problems are usually fixed before anyone notices them. We will add photographs of the interior as the work completes.
Why it matters
Tilal Al Ghaf villas are large, new and mostly delivered with a basic developer specification. Going beyond that specification, properly, is the difference between a house full of gadgets and a home that behaves as one.
